My thoughts on Terrain

Terrain is what gives any miniature game it's atmosphere. Why use great painted miniatures if you have to imagine the landscape they fight over? That is why I try to build a new piece of terrain every couple of weeks in addition to work and painting of the miniatures.

I have found for the 6mm scale I prefer GHQ terrain maker hexes. They are somewhat expensive but in this scale the amount of realism you can achieve is very high while still being portable. They have tutorials online and on YouTube which guide you through the various processes to make stunning terrain for free! It doesn't get much better than that! It seems though the trick is you have to take your time and measure correctly to get the best results.

I use Woodland Scenics tree armatures, the smallest height bag, and their ground flock to bring the hex up to standard.
You can see the hexes and what you can do. I've got a small hill on the bottom and hedgerowed fields then a road. This is all geomorphic and can be rearranged.

This is some modern Chinese forces on the hexes. You can see how realistic can be, and my skills are not that great!
